My Nerd
November 9, 2007 by ccharr
I have always been drawn to nerdy, dorky, geeky guys. They’re funny, confident, and smart! Much to most of their surprise, a lot of girls are attracted to this ‘type’. Me, obviously included. Their intellectual confidence balanced with their innocent shyness is always charming. Their confidence is not overexerted, rather it is calm and subtle and because they are so immersed in their intellectual mentality, it’s amusing as well as confusing when you see them stutter and falter when it comes to the opposite sex. It’s fascinating that you can read their emotions all over their faces - like when they’re struggling with a conversation and you can actually see them kicking themselves inside - like when they’ve realized they’ve talked way too much about something the other person is ignorant of - or when they’re so shy that flirting results in them blushing. It’s actually very cute. I could spend all day conversing with a nerd and find him truly amusing. As confusing as it sounds, my attraction for them is hugely affected by the fact that they are oblivious to their own magnetic appeal. hehe, get it?
And my biggest nerd is… Tablo from Epik High.
Tablo is one-third of Epik High, an underrated hip-hop band, who graduated from Stanford with a degree in English Literature. I’m not too sure if he finished all his studies because he did stop learning to further his music career. But either way, his intelligence is demonstrated in Epik High’s songs. Being the main song-writer, Epik High has been known to spit out lyrics reflecting politics, family as well as thought-provoking issues. Also a fan, Javabean’s adoration for Tablo is shown when she perfectly states, “It’s one thing to be smart; it’s another thing to be insightful. It’s one thing to be fluent in two languages (or more); it’s another to be eloquent in both.”
Tablo is definitely insightful and eloquent.
