I just finished watching the Country Music Awards. Usually, when it comes to awards, I’ll switch between channels; there are only some performances that has me anticipating and only a few awards that I’m curious about. These performances are generally in the beginning and awards near the end. But because I haven’t stepped into the country scene in a long time, I was curious to see who were “new”, “old”, and still “it”. Country music scene has changed so much since my temporary departure. Sugarland looked fabulous! But the last time I checked, they were a trio. So, when did they lose the third member? Falling out?
And all these new faces – Taylor Swift, Rodney Atkins, Josh Turner.
I must say, it was a pretty good show. Honest, there aren’t a lot of award shows that can pull off something so consistent. Although there were no performances that were mind-blowingly exciting, all the performances were good and just as entertaining as the next. The performance with Jamie Foxx and Rascal Flatts was actually very good. I frankly did not see that coming and cringed at the thought of them together. I didn’t think they could play off each other and thought the collaboration would in fact, look awkward. But surprisingly, they definitely entertained.
But my FAVOURITE performance goes out to Reba McIntyre and Leanne Rhymes. I never liked the song they sang together but after watching the performance, I totally fell in love with it! Their voices make the hairs on my neck stand and they make my heart melt… *sighs in awe*
Some songs from the show that got me swingin’ to:
Brad Paisley- Online
Rodney Atkins- These are my people
Taylor Swift (who won the Horizon award 2007)- Our song
I couldn’t find an official music video for the song but it’s okay because the song’s just as satisfying!
Reba McIntyre’s duet with Leanne Rhymes- When you love someone like that
P.S – Big and Rich rock! *heart* them!
