When I first heard Oprah had opened a youtube channel in which she would be uploading videos that were personally taken by her on her phone or camera, I was impressed. I shouldn’t have been impressed because for her, she has proven time and time again that when it comes to reaching out to her audience, there is no limit . It’s true; for sometime now, I’ve actually stopped watching her shows because it was guaranteed that when the clock hit 4, I would shed at least a tear throughout the show. A little part of this was because of my sensitivity, but the other huge part was because every episode covered something I could associate with.

But I was impressed. Impressed that she possessed the knowledge and understanding of modern technology and dared to use and invest it to her advantage. Also impressed that she would be uploading own videos about her life – family, staff, and possibly celebrity friends.

But, had I been more sharp, I would have figured out that Oprah DOESN’T have the time for this kind of things. I mean, she has to fly to Africa and deal with dim-witted teachers that think they can mess with Oprah’s afro! On top of that, she has a public persona to live up to, a family she turns to – possibly when she’s not entertaining a mass population of North Americans! Geez, Char, ever think about that? *smacks head!*

Needless to say, when I actually surfed her youtube channel, I was disappointed because the site was just so… professional. Something you know a normal person with no educational background in graphic or web design, or no connections with say, the creators of youtube, could not do . Furthermore, her videos were… again so professional. Almost as though it was rehearse (?) But, because I’m basing my opinion solely on 5 videos so far, I’m hoping that with more videos she uploads, her channel can become more… personal. *cross fingers* because it would be nice to see Oprah – the real one, not the T.V Oprah; but if possible, the Oprah when with Gale.
